India Secures Victory Over Pakistan in ICC Women’s World Cup 2025

India achieved an 88-run victory against Pakistan in the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 match held on Sun, Oct 5, 2025, in Colombo. This win positions India at the top of the points table with four points.

India set a target of 247 runs in their 50 overs, being bowled out on the last ball of their innings. The match took place under bowler-friendly conditions in Colombo, serving as a neutral venue for Pakistan’s matches.

Pakistan’s innings faced early setbacks and pressure from Indian bowler Kranti Goud, who secured three wickets for 20 runs in her 10 overs. Pakistan’s performance reflected challenges with the conditions and the opposition, resulting in their 12th consecutive one-day international loss against India.

The match proceeded without handshakes between the teams, coinciding with recent political tensions between the neighboring countries.

After winning the toss, Pakistan elected to field, and India managed to post a total despite challenging pitch conditions. Jemimah Rodrigues, who scored 32, noted the ball’s tendency to stop on the surface. Pratika Rawal and Smriti Mandhana provided a steady start with a partnership of 48 runs.

Harleen Deol contributed 45 runs before being dismissed, while Richa Ghosh added an unbeaten 35 off 20 balls. Pakistan’s Diana Baig was notable with a bowling figure of 4-69.

Pakistan’s response was hindered by early wickets, placing them at 26-3 by the 12th over. Despite efforts from Sidra Amin and Natalia Pervaiz, Pakistan was ultimately bowled out within three overs following Amin’s dismissal in the 40th over.

Pakistan’s captain, Sana, expressed disappointment over missed fielding opportunities, acknowledging the potential to restrict India’s score further. India’s captain, Harmanpreet Kaur, praised the bowling attack, highlighting Kranti Goud’s performance.

India will return home for their remaining group matches, facing South Africa on Thu, Oct 9, 2025. Pakistan’s upcoming match is against Australia on Wed, Oct 8, 2025, in Colombo.

Neither India nor Pakistan has previously won an ICC ODI or T20 World Cup.
