Palestinian families in Qusra remain under settler siege for sixth day

Palestinian families in the village of Qusra, located near Nablus in the occupied West Bank, remain trapped in their homes for a sixth consecutive day as Israeli settlers continue a blockade that began on Sunday. The siege involves three residences situated on a hilltop, where settlers have erected tents at the entrances to prevent movement and exert control over the properties.

According to reports from Middle East Eye and local media, the settlers have cut off water and electricity supplies to some of the affected homes. The residents, including children, are reportedly struggling to access food and medicine while confined to their houses. Local community members believe the actions are a coordinated effort to force the families out of their homes permanently.

Military presence and failed aid attempts

Although the Israeli army launched an operation with the stated goal of removing the settlers, the siege persists. Footage circulating online has shown Israeli soldiers interacting socially with the settlers, including instances of drinking and praying together, rather than enforcing their removal. This has led to accusations from residents that the military is not acting to protect the besieged families despite their calls for assistance.

Efforts by outside groups to provide humanitarian relief have also been obstructed. On Friday, Israeli activists attempted to deliver food supplies to the trapped families but were stopped by Israeli forces before they could reach the village.

Qusra has frequently been a flashpoint for tensions between local Palestinian residents and nearby Israeli settlements.
