AFCON 2025: Cameroon 'spiritually ready' to face Gabon in first match

Cameroon is set to face Gabon in the Africa Cup of Nations on Wednesday, Dec 2, 2025, in Agadir. The match will begin at 9.00 pm local time.

The Indomitable Lions aim to improve on their previous tournament performance, where they exited in the last-16. Defender Che Malone emphasized the team's readiness, stating the importance of being prepared spiritually, mentally, and physically to secure three points.

Cameroon's participation follows recent organizational changes. The dismissal of coach Marc Brys occurred three weeks prior to the tournament, and David Pagou was appointed as the new coach on Dec 1, 2025, by Cameroon FA president Samuel Eto’o. Additionally, the team did not qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
