The attacks occurred on Wednesday in the Biu community of Kebbi state, according to a statement released by police spokesman Bashir Usman on Thursday night.
The perpetrators originated from Sokoto state, which is partially occupied by the Lakurawa insurgent group, Usman indicated.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the armed Lakurawa militants infiltrated the area with the intent to rustle cattle. Security forces have been dispatched to the region to restore peace and uphold order.
