Beeta Playwright Competition Launches Seventh Edition

The Beeta Playwright Competition has opened submissions for its seventh edition, introducing a new theme and structural changes designed to support developing talent across the continent.

Organisers have selected “Connected Realities: A Closer World in a Digital Age” as this year’s focus. The theme invites playwrights to examine the ways digital tools and platforms influence interpersonal connections and shared experiences.

According to Daily Trust, a significant change this year is the introduction of a mandatory pre-submission workshop for all participants. The requirement aims to strengthen the quality of entries and provide early guidance to writers before they submit their work.
