Abdou Amir, aged 53, has previously coached national teams such as Comoros and Mauritania. He also served as a coach for Hassania Agadir in Morocco’s premier division. Amir is recognized for his strategic acumen and his ability to develop teams with robust defensive capabilities.

The primary objective set for Amir is to qualify Burkina Faso for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations. He emphasized the importance of national pride and teamwork, stating that playing for the national team requires a strong sense of patriotism and commitment.

The Burkinabè Football Federation has expressed a desire to restore pride in the national team following recent performance setbacks. The team's early exit in the round of 16 during the Africa Cup in Morocco was noted as a significant disappointment.
