The construction was inaugurated by Burkina Faso's army ruler, Captain Ibrahim Traore, near Ouagadougou. This infrastructure development is part of the Faso Mebo initiative, which aims to modernize the nation.
The expressway project has been allocated at least $357 million in the 2026 state budget. The funding is sourced from locally generated revenue.
