On Tue, Oct 13, 2025, Chinese President Xi Jinping and Ghanaian President John Dramani Mahama met in Beijing during the Global Leaders' Meeting on Women co-hosted with UN Women. This meeting coincides with the 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Ghana.
Both leaders expressed a commitment to further developing bilateral relations. President Xi emphasized the importance of implementing the outcomes of the 2024 Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation. He highlighted opportunities for expanded cooperation in fields such as mining, energy, infrastructure, agriculture, and fisheries.
President Mahama confirmed Ghana's commitment to China's Global Governance Initiative, aimed at fostering a more equitable global governance system. He acknowledged the support from China through initiatives like the Belt and Road Initiative, which began in 2013.

China is a significant trading partner and investor in Ghana. These investments have resulted in 424 projects and the creation of over 39,000 jobs, as reported by Simon Madjie, CEO of GIPC, during the Ghana-China Business Summit in June.
