As of early September, the last patient receiving treatment for Ebola has been discharged from the hospital. This begins a 42-day observation period to potentially declare the outbreak over, provided no additional cases are identified.
Currently, 19 individuals have recovered from the virus, with no new cases reported since Mon, Sep 25, 2025. The outbreak has involved 53 confirmed and 11 suspected infections.
The outbreak emerged in the Bulape health district of Kauai province, a region with limited infrastructure. In response, the Ministry of Health, alongside the World Health Organization (WHO), established a 32-bed treatment center rapidly. Approximately 35,000 local residents have been vaccinated against Ebola.

WHO and its partners continue to collaborate with the government to maintain vigilant monitoring and rapid response capabilities as the region anticipates the conclusion of the outbreak.
