The introduction of this court aims to enhance the Democratic Republic of Congo's judicial system in combating prevalent financial and economic crimes. Previously, cases referred by financial authorities often stagnated due to a lack of specialized knowledge among magistrates.
The court will comprise a primary jurisdiction court and an appeals chamber. Approximately forty judges will be required to operate both chambers effectively. The selection of magistrates will focus on expertise in economic and financial crimes and a strong sense of integrity.
