Egypt has announced the initiation of a bidding process for private companies to manage, operate, and develop Hurghada International Airport, the country's second-busiest airport.
The Ministry of Civil Aviation has opened applications for the bid to single legal entities, or consortia of companies, institutions, or other commercial entities. This marks the first phase in a larger plan to privatize operations at 11 Egyptian airports.
In March, Egypt engaged the International Finance Corporation from the World Bank Group to facilitate the introduction of public-private partnerships across the selected locations.
