The National Board of Ethiopia announced on Tuesday that the country's general election is scheduled for Mon, Jun 1, 2026. Chairperson Melatwork Hailu stated that necessary activities, including organizing branch offices and preparing polling stations, have been conducted.

This conflict resulted in the deaths of at least 600,000 people and displaced approximately 1 million individuals.
Moreover, ongoing violence in the Oromia and Amhara regions presents additional obstacles.
In an address to parliament on Tue, Oct 28, Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed affirmed that the government possesses the necessary capacity and determination to conduct these elections. He further asserted that the upcoming elections would be the best organized in Ethiopia's history.
