The incident occurred on Mon, Sep 25, 2023, when a private minibus carrying 16 students to various primary and high schools in the south of Johannesburg collided with a truck at approximately 7 a.m. Twelve children were pronounced dead at the scene.
Initial fatalities: 12 children Subsequent fatalities: Two teenage girls succumbed to injuries on Thu, Sep 28, 2023, raising the death toll to 14 Injured: Seven individuals, including five students, the bus driver, and a truck passenger, were hospitalized. Three of these individuals have since been discharged.
