Five individuals have died following a helicopter crash on Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. The incident occurred on Wednesday evening on a popular tourist climbing route during a rescue mission.
The crash involved a medical evacuation operation, resulting in the deaths of two foreign nationals, a local doctor, a tour guide, and the pilot. The accident took place between Barafu Camp and Kibo Summit at an altitude exceeding 4,000 meters (13,100 feet).
The helicopter was operated by Kilimanjaro Aviation, a company providing medical evacuation services. The company has not yet commented on the incident. The Tanzania Civil Aviation Authority announced on Thursday that an investigation is underway to determine the circumstances and probable cause of the crash, following international safety regulations.
