The Interior Ministry stated that over 34,000 people have been displaced since the flooding began in March.
The Nyando River in western Kenya overflowed on Monday, submerging parts of the Ahero Bridge on the Kericho–Awasi–Kisumu road, disrupting transportation. The government has advised motorists to avoid the flooded route and seek alternative roads, especially at night when visibility is reduced.
Emergency response efforts, led by the Kenya Red Cross Society, have intensified in the worst-affected areas. They have been rescuing residents and relocating families to safer locations.

In Tana River County, the River Tana has overflowed, flooding farms in Mbalambala and surrounding areas, including Asako village, threatening food production.
In Uasin Gishu County, a multi-agency team is assessing the impact of rising water levels along Sosiani River in Lower Elgon View, affecting residential and hospitality facilities.
Nationwide, floods have disrupted daily life, leading to school closures, impassable roads, and interrupted business activities, particularly in low-lying and informal settlements.
Emergency teams are actively monitoring the situation, with further evacuations planned if rainfall continues. Kenya experiences seasonal flooding annually, but the current crisis's scale and intensity have raised concerns about disaster preparedness and the vulnerability of communities in flood-prone areas.
Authorities have urged residents in high-risk zones to remain vigilant and adhere to official guidance, warning that conditions may worsen if heavy rains persist.
