On Thursday evening, Ali Larayedh, former Prime Minister of Tunisia, was sentenced to 24 years in prison. This verdict was issued by the Appeals Court of Tunis, reducing an initial sentence of 34 years. The case, referred to as "Tasfir," involved allegations of aiding Tunisian jihadists in traveling to Syria during the Syrian war.
The initial prosecution demand for a 34-year sentence was confirmed by a trial in May 2025. However, the Appeals Court decided to decrease the sentence by ten years.
