The 70-year-old tourist, originating from Dijon, France, went missing on Wed, Oct 25, 2023, while visiting the Bachikele mountains. The Chadian tourism minister reported that the individual was discovered deceased at the base of a mountain, with an empty water bottle nearby. The cause of death is attributed to a fall.
The tourist was part of a group attending the International Festival of Saharan Cultures, which commenced on Sat, Oct 21, 2023, in Amdjarass, approximately 100 kilometers from the Sudanese border. The missing individuals left the group without authorization or a guide to explore the Guelta de Bachikele, a Saharan oasis.
