The explosion happened when the truck lost its brakes on Mutengene Hill and ended its uncontrolled descent near the Likomba bridge in Tiko. The force of the explosion propagated flames across a wide area, affecting approximately 10 houses and several vehicles.
The incident resulted in the deaths of eight individuals, including men, women, and at least one child. Three severely injured survivors were transported to Bingo Hospital, while several military personnel received treatment on-site. The city of Douala deployed an additional team of firefighters to assist with the situation.
