Gabon has officially requested an arrangement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), according to IMF officials. This request follows the conclusion of an IMF team's visit to the Central African country.
The IMF has advised Gabon to continue implementing reforms to improve public financial management, governance, and the business climate, as well as to enhance efforts against corruption.

In January, Gabon re-engaged with the IMF, announcing a new economic growth program to be supported by the Fund. The potential loan could contribute to stabilizing the country's finances, though there are concerns regarding debt transparency and the government's commitment to necessary reforms.
The IMF has indicated that discussions with Gabon are ongoing.
