President Brice Oligui Nguema has announced a significant government reshuffle as part of the ongoing political transition initiated since his assumption of power in 2023.
Hughes Alexandre Barro Chambrier has been appointed as Vice-President of the Republic. Hermann Immongault has transitioned from the Ministry of Interior to serve as Vice-President of the government.

Immongault’s new role is regarded as an acknowledgment of his effective management of the legislative and parliamentary elections held in September, where President Nguema’s Democratic Union of Builders secured 101 out of 145 parliamentary seats.
President Nguema has signed a decree formalizing the composition of the new government, which now comprises 31 ministers, an increase from the previous 30. Notably, 10 of these positions are held by women.
President Nguema was elected in April, marking two years since orchestrating a coup that concluded 55 years of Bongo family governance in Gabon.
