The Democratic Union of Builders, recently established by President Brice Oligui Nguema, has secured 55 out of 145 seats in the initial round of Gabon's legislative elections. The former ruling party, PDG, led by former President Ali Bongo Ondimba, gained three seats, with both parties winning an additional four seats on joint tickets.
A subsequent round of elections is scheduled for Wed, Oct 11, 2023. In this round, 77 undecided constituencies will be contested, primarily between the Democratic Union of Builders and the PDG, to finalize the composition of the National Assembly.
