Witnesses, including local accountant Thierno Balde, reported hearing the sound of vehicles speeding by, followed by automatic gunfire. The incident reportedly began shortly before 9:00 am local time and lasted for over half an hour, characterized by rapid gunfire.
A security detail, composed of police officers and special forces, restricted access to the road leading to the prison later in the morning. An armored vehicle from the special forces was positioned in front of the prison facility.

Another resident living adjacent to the prison reported hearing gunfire within the facility. Although the situation seemed to have calmed down at the time of the report, the resident expressed uncertainty about its duration.
