Guinea's Supreme Court has confirmed the presidential election results, declaring Mamady Doumbouya as the winner with 86.72% of the votes. The election took place on Thu, Dec 28, 2023, and excluded several opposition candidates from the ballot.
The second-place candidate, Abdoulaye Yéro Baldé, secured 6.59% of the votes. Baldé had initially contested the election outcome but subsequently withdrew his complaint, as stated by the Supreme Court's first president, Fode Bangoura.
In his address following the official results, Doumbouya emphasized national unity, stating, “Today, there are neither winners nor losers. There is only one Guinea, united and indivisible.” He urged citizens to work towards building a nation characterized by peace, justice, and shared prosperity.
