Kogi's information commissioner, Kingsley Fanwo, confirmed that five attackers were neutralized, while others fled with injuries. The attackers are described as "bandits," criminal gangs notorious for kidnappings for ransom.
This incident marks the second church attack in two weeks within Kogi. Previously, gunmen targeted a church in Ejiba, abducting a pastor, his wife, and several congregants, who remain captive.
