Seven irregular migrants from sub-Saharan Africa were found deceased on a beach east of Tripoli, Libya, according to a report by a Libyan Red Crescent representative on Sun, Oct 15, 2023.
The deceased included three children. Additional casualties may exist, though details concerning the circumstances of their deaths have not been disclosed by the Libyan Red Crescent.
In an official statement, the organization confirmed the recovery of seven bodies from the shoreline in Qasr Al-Akhyar, attributed to irregular migration activities.

The bodies were discovered on the night of Sat, Oct 14, 2023, in Qasr al-Akhyar, a coastal town approximately 73 kilometers (45 miles) east of Tripoli. Libya serves as a significant transit point for numerous migrants attempting to reach Europe annually, with frequent reports of migrant fatalities.
According to the United Nations' International Organization for Migration (IOM), over 2,100 irregular migrants perished or were reported missing in the Mediterranean Sea while en route to Europe last year.
