Following the military-led change in government in Madagascar in October of the previous year, the new leadership is enhancing cooperation with Russia. President Michael Randrianirina visited Moscow in February, marking the first official visit by a Malagasy leader in nearly five decades.
President Randrianirina has initiated a process referred to as the "Refoundation," aimed at restoring state authority, combating corruption, and rebuilding public trust. This initiative follows youth-led unrest triggered by power and water shortages.
