Event Update: Our Generation Children's Song Contest
The third international children's song contest "Our Generation" concluded with Madagascar securing victory in Moscow on Sat, Oct 28, 2023. The Malagasy team, comprising young singers Michella, Brenda, and Riantsoa, impressed both the audience and jury with their song "Fianarana foana," meaning "Keep Studying."
This year, 16 countries participated in the contest, including China, South Africa, Uganda, Ethiopia, and the United States, which joined the event for the first time. The contest, initiated by Russia in 2023, serves as an alternative to the Junior Eurovision Song Contest and is open to children aged 9 to 16.
Russia's initiative aims to provide an "educational programme" devoid of political influences. The European Broadcasting Union had previously banned Russia from Eurovision following its military actions in Ukraine in February 2022.

In addition to "Our Generation," Russia has recently revived the Soviet-era Intervision Music Contest for adults. However, this initiative has faced criticism, with the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry labeling it as "an instrument of hostile propaganda."
