Authorities in Kenya have identified a significant mass grave in Kericho, where officials have exhumed multiple bodies, including foetuses. This case is expanding in scope as the investigation proceeds.

The investigation was initiated earlier this week following reports of a clandestine burial site. Initially estimated to involve approximately 14 bodies, the discovery has revealed a more extensive situation.

Government pathologist Richard Njoroge confirmed that the mass grave contained 32 bodies, comprising seven adults and 25 children, including neonates and foetuses. The remains were found in gunny bags. Investigators also recovered six separate body parts, including four legs and two hands.

Authorities have secured the site and commenced a full investigation. Autopsies will be conducted to ascertain the causes of death, with preliminary indications suggesting that some bodies may have been sourced from hospitals or mortuaries.

This discovery occurs three years after the Shakahola Forest incident, where a significant number of bodies were discovered along Kenya’s coast in a major cult-related event.
