The Moroccan Football Federation has announced its intention to appeal the disciplinary sanctions and fines imposed by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) following the Africa Cup of Nations final against Senegal on Thu, Jan 18, 2024.
The final, won by Senegal in extra time, was marked by a 14-minute interruption when Senegalese players left the field in protest of a disallowed goal during regular time.
Morocco was fined a total of $315,000 for what CAF described as "misconduct" by its players, staff, and supporters. Disciplinary actions included the use of lasers aimed at Senegalese players. Forward Ismael Saibari received a three-match ban and a $100,000 fine for unsporting behavior. Captain Achraf Hakimi was suspended for two matches.

Both players were penalized for attempting to remove the towel of Senegal goalkeeper Edouard Mendy during heavy rain conditions.
