South African authorities have arrested Bellarmine Chatunga Mugabe, the youngest son of former Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe, following an incident at his residence in Johannesburg. Police reports confirm that a gardener sustained a gunshot wound and is in critical condition.
According to Colonel Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi, the motive behind the shooting remains unclear, and investigations are ongoing. Bellarmine Mugabe and another individual were detained and are facing charges of attempted murder. The suspects have been uncooperative, and the firearm involved has not been recovered.
Ashley Mugiya, a lawyer based in Zimbabwe, has confirmed that legal representation for Mugabe will be handled by South African attorneys.
