A recent drone attack by the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) has resulted in the deaths of at least three aid workers and injuries to four others in Sudan's South Kordofan state, as reported by the Sudan Doctors Network. The attack targeted a convoy transporting food and humanitarian supplies in the Kartala area, en route to Kadugli and Dilling.
The RSF, along with the Sudan People's Liberation Movement–North, is reported to have been responsible for the attack. This marks the second such incident in less than a month, following the shelling of a United Nations aid convoy in Al-Rahad, as noted by the Sudan Doctors Network.
The Sudan Doctors Network has condemned the targeting of humanitarian convoys, citing it as a violation of international humanitarian law. They have called upon the international community, the United Nations, and human rights organizations to apply pressure on the RSF leadership to ensure the safety of aid convoys, establish safe humanitarian corridors, and hold accountable those responsible for these attacks.

This attack occurs amid a continuing civil war between the RSF and the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF), which began in April 2023. The RSF, after being expelled from Khartoum, has shifted focus to the Kordofan region and el-Fasher in North Darfur state, which led to the International Criminal Court launching an investigation into alleged war crimes by both factions.
The United Nations' Independent International Fact-Finding Mission for Sudan recently concluded that the RSF conducted a coordinated campaign against non-Arab communities in and around el-Fasher, with actions amounting to genocide. Following this, the United States imposed sanctions on several RSF officials for their roles in these operations.
