Nkanu Nnamdi Esege, 21 months old, died after a period of illness while undergoing treatment at the hospital. He was scheduled for transfer to the United States for further medical care after undergoing procedures such as MRI and a spinal tap at the facility.
Chimamanda Ngozi Adichi and her husband, Dr. Ivara Esege, have alleged medical negligence against the hospital, which has denied any wrongdoing.
