Nigeria Invests Over 500 Million Dollars in Vaccines
The federal government has spent more than $500 million on life-saving vaccines over the past two decades, reaching 75 million children, according to the head of Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance.

Nigeria is Africa’s most populous country, with more than 200 million people. Its immunisation programmes operate against a backdrop of sometimes challenging logistics across 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory. Routine vaccination coverage has improved in recent years but still faces gaps in remote and conflict-affected areas.
Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, works with governments and partners to increase access to immunisation in lower-income countries. Nigeria has been one of its major partners on the continent.
