Objectives of the Gas Master Plan 2026
Increase national gas production from 8 billion cubic feet per day (bcf/d) to 10 bcf/d by 2027, and further to 12 bcf/d by 2030. Secure over $60 billion in investments across the gas value chain, including upstream extraction and downstream distribution. Expand infrastructure, enhance supply reliability, and utilize gas as a key factor in economic diversification and power generation.
The Gas Master Plan marks a shift from policy development to practical execution. The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), Ekperikpe Ekpo, highlighted the need to convert Nigeria's extensive gas reserves into reliable supply and economic benefits.
NNPC Ltd Group CEO, Bashir Bayo Ojulari, emphasized the plan's goals to optimize costs, attract new investments, and ensure a steady supply to major industrial players such as the Dangote Group.
The concurrent signing of contracts and the launch of the master plan demonstrate a coordinated approach: the government is developing the necessary framework and infrastructure, while industrial leaders are securing the resources needed to advance Nigeria's industrial and clean energy objectives.
