The Federal High Court in Abuja, Nigeria, has adjourned the trial of former Attorney General Abubakar Malami and his son, Abdulaziz, to Thu, May 4, 2023. Both individuals have been granted bail set at approximately $147,000 each.
The defendants face charges of terrorism and illegal firearms possession, filed by the Department of State Services (DSS). This follows prior charges of money laundering brought against them by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). Malami, his son, and his wife are collectively facing a 16-count charge involving alleged money laundering and unlawful acquisition of assets valued at over $6 million.
During the recent court session, Malami's lawyer, Adedayo Adedeji, stated that the defendants had been arraigned and have pleaded not guilty to all counts.
