No injuries as Somali passenger plane veers off runway after crash-landing

The Civil Aviation Authorities reported that the pilot identified an issue approximately 15 minutes after departure from Mogadishu. A request was made to return to the airport. Upon attempting to land, the aircraft overran the runway and came to a stop in the shallow waters of the Indian Ocean.
No injuries were reported in the incident. The aircraft, identified as a Fokker 50, sustained damage to its wing and nose. Following the event, passengers were observed safely evacuating from the aircraft.

Starsky Aviation CEO, Ahmed Nur, confirmed that the crew handled the situation with professionalism, and priority landing was granted by the control tower. "They landed, runway two three," he stated.
Transportation Minister Mohamed Farah Nuh indicated that an investigation has been initiated to ascertain the cause of the incident. Meanwhile, the African Union’s mission in Somalia noted that emergency responders, along with AU and UN troops, were swiftly mobilized to assist in the rescue operations.
