The Republic of Congo has officially scheduled the presidential election for Fri, Mar 15, 2024. This announcement was made by government spokesperson Thierry Moungalla. According to the national Constitution, the election must occur no less than 30 days and no more than 40 days before the conclusion of the current presidential term.
Incumbent President Denis Sassou-Nguesso commenced his current term on Fri, Apr 16, 2021. The electoral administration has yet to announce deadlines for candidacy submissions. Meanwhile, the Congolese Labour Party (PCT) has nominated Denis Sassou-Nguesso as its candidate.
Other potential candidates include Frédéric Bintsamou, also known as Pastor Ntumi, and Dave Mafoula, who was the youngest candidate in the previous presidential election.

In 2017, individuals associated with President Sassou-Nguesso faced indictments for alleged "laundering of public funds" in the "ill-gotten gains" case, which also involves ruling families from Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.
