Rwanda Endorses Candidate for Francophonie Leadership
Rwanda has officially announced its support for Louise Mushikiwabo, the former foreign minister, for a third term as Secretary General of the Organisation internationale de la Francophonie (OIF). This decision was communicated by Olivier Nduhungirehe, Rwanda's top diplomat.
The next OIF summit is scheduled to occur in November in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
Since 2019, Mushikiwabo has led the OIF, which includes 88 member states, governments, and observers. During her tenure, the organization has experienced significant improvements in political credibility, institutional clarity, and operational effectiveness.

The application period for the Secretary General position will close in April. If re-elected, Mushikiwabo will become the second individual, after former Senegalese president Abdou Diouf, to serve three terms in this role.
