Mohamed Salah will lead Egypt in their return to the World Cup next summer. The team secured its spot by defeating Djibouti 3–0, with Salah contributing two goals. Egypt now tops their African qualifying group with one match remaining.
Egypt joins Morocco and Tunisia as the third African team to qualify for the World Cup. Egypt previously participated in the 2018 World Cup but did not progress beyond the group stage.
Egypt is among the nine African teams to qualify directly for the World Cup. The draw is scheduled for Tue, Dec 5, 2023, in Washington, D.C.

Ghana achieved a 5–0 victory over the Central African Republic, requiring only one point from their final game to qualify. Madagascar is second in Group I after a 2–1 win over the Comoros. Mali won 2–0 against Chad. Niger defeated Congo 3–1, and Zambia won 1–0 against Tanzania in Group E.
