Energy Production Update: Senegal's 2025 Oil and LNG Output

Senegal's oil production in 2025 reached 36.1 million barrels, surpassing the initial projection of 30.53 million barrels and the revised estimate of 34.7 million barrels set in June. The Ministry of Energy, Oil and Mines attributes this increase to effective reservoir management, well maintenance, and robust operational performance.

The oil is primarily sourced from the Sangomar offshore oil and gas field , situated 100 kilometres off the coast of Dakar. Operations at the site are managed by Australian company Woodside Energy, which commenced activities in 2024.

In December, three shipments of crude oil totaling 2.94 million barrels were sold on the international market.

Senegal's liquefied natural gas (LNG) production also exceeded expectations, reaching its peak in December 2025 with the export of 0.5 million cubic metres of LNG.
