The Senegalese government has been requesting the extradition of two nationals currently residing in France, without success. Consequently, Senegal will not extradite 12 individuals wanted by France until a favorable response is received regarding its own requests.
"If these people are guilty of crimes, we arrest them. We do not do as France does. We do not let them remain free," stated Minister Fall.

The identities of the two Senegalese citizens involved were not disclosed. However, the decision comes shortly after French courts delayed a ruling on the extradition of Madiambal Diagne, a Senegalese media figure facing charges of financial misconduct in Senegal. French courts have requested further information to evaluate Senegal's extradition request, which Senegal claims to have provided.
Diagne's legal representatives have described Senegal's decision as "diplomatic blackmail."
It is noteworthy that France and Senegal established an extradition agreement in 2021.
