Airspace over Lagos was temporarily suspended on Mon, Oct 23, 2023, due to a fire at Murtala Muhammed International Airport. Six individuals sustained injuries and are reported to be in stable condition. Fourteen people were trapped in the control tower and subsequently evacuated by emergency teams.
The fire originated around 3:00 PM in a server room located on the first floor of Terminal 1. The flames caused damage to the airport's departures hall, which is currently undergoing a $500 million renovation.
