The inclement weather began immediately following the toss, resulting in the teams seeking cover. Despite efforts by over 60 ground staff to secure the playing area, the persistent rain led to the official cancellation of the Group 2 match at 9:05 pm local time (15:35 GMT). The cut-off time to play even a five-over match was 10:16 pm (16:46 GMT), which was not achievable. Consequently, both teams were awarded one point each.
