Successor to Olubadan of Ibadanland known as announcement nears

The Otun Olubadan of Ibadanland, Chief Rashidi Ladoja, has confirmed that the identity of the next Olubadan is already known within the community and that an announcement on the coronation date is expected soon.

Ladoja made the statement on Friday according to Vanguard Nigeria. His comments come amid ongoing discussions about succession within the traditional leadership of Ibadan, the largest city in Oyo State in southwest Nigeria.

The Olubadan is the paramount traditional ruler of Ibadanland. The position holds cultural and symbolic importance for the Yoruba people who form the majority population in the region. Succession to the throne often follows a well-established line of chieftaincy titles that candidates progress through over many years.
