Sudan has progressed to the knockout stages as one of the top four third-place teams. This advancement was secured following a victory over Equatorial Guinea in their second Group E match, despite suffering defeats against Algeria and Burkina Faso.
Historically, Sudan last won the tournament in 1970. They have yet to secure a win against Senegal, the 2021 champions, who advanced as winners of Group D with victories over Botswana and Benin.
