Early voting has commenced in New York's mayoral election. Democratic candidate Zohran Mamdani has publicly addressed recent criticisms and clarified his campaign stance.
Mamdani, speaking outside a mosque on Friday, emphasized his commitment to embracing his Muslim identity. He noted:
"To be Muslim in New York is to expect indignity. But indignity does not make us distinct. There are many New Yorkers who face it. It is the tolerance of that indignity that does."
