UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Visits Sudan
On Thu, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Türk, continued his visit to Sudan. During his visit, he met with civil society representatives and non-governmental organizations in Dongola, the capital of Northern State. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the challenges and needs of the people displaced by violence in the Darfur and Kordofan regions, as reported by the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR).
Türk highlighted the severe hardships faced by the survivors of the conflict, emphasizing the need for comprehensive efforts within Sudan and from the international community to provide necessary humanitarian assistance.
