The United Nations has reported that the ceasefire agreement between the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and Rwanda is currently not being upheld. This announcement was made by UN Special Envoy Huang Xia, who noted that although international peace efforts are commendable, the ceasefire promises have not been fulfilled.
Huang Xia urged regional countries to engage in direct and transparent dialogue and to implement all necessary measures to achieve a lasting end to the conflict.

Zenon Ngay Mukongo, the DRC's representative to the United Nations, emphasized that the cessation of hostilities, the withdrawal of Rwandan troops, the cessation of support for the M23, and the restoration of Congolese state authority over occupied areas are essential, non-negotiable conditions for achieving genuine peace.
The ongoing conflict in eastern DRC has resulted in thousands of casualties and has displaced millions of individuals from their homes.
