Zimbabwe Speaker Receives SADC Parliamentary Forum Leader

Zimbabwe's Speaker of Parliament, Advocate Jacob Mudenda, hosted the Secretary-General of the Southern African Development Community Parliamentary Forum on 30 June 2026.

The courtesy call by Ms Boemo Sekgoma took place in the capital, Harare. It formed part of ongoing efforts to strengthen ties among parliaments across the SADC region.

The SADC Parliamentary Forum serves as a platform for lawmakers from the 16 member states of the Southern African Development Community. Established to promote democracy and good governance, the body facilitates dialogue on issues ranging from regional integration to human rights.

Zimbabwe has been an active participant in SADC structures since the organisation's formation in 1992, originally as the Southern African Development Coordination Conference. The country plays a significant role in regional politics and economic initiatives.

Such high-level parliamentary exchanges aim to harmonise legislative approaches and share best practices. They occur regularly as part of broader diplomatic engagement among SADC nations.
