According to The Herald Zimbabwe, the league emphasised that the preparations were part of broader national efforts rather than temporary measures tied solely to hosting the gathering. The summit itself took place in 2024.
Zimbabwe, which assumed the SADC chairmanship during that period, used the occasion to showcase ongoing infrastructure upgrades and urban improvements in the capital and other areas. These included road repairs, public space enhancements and facility upgrades intended to support both the summit and long-term growth.
